Do you have a valid reasons to say there is a risk of missing critical dates.
If yes please do proper risk analysis(including identification,analyzing the impact and probability,come up with quantitative analysis and convey the same to your stakeholders using your communication skills.
You need to find a mentor to guide you,to coach you since you are new to project management.

Yes critical dates can be missed due to limited SME resources, conflicts in scheduled meetings, PM not knowing the processes of the company and many others. The manager only gives us support when we ask. Saving Changes...

I would like to ask you, what is your experience and/or your education in the field of project management?
To me, it seems that you are not the right one for a "massive" project since you are new.
Like Bala said, at least you will need a coach or mentor who can guide you.
How should you do proper risk analysis and assessment, since you have no glue how to do so ...?!

First of all, you have to change your perception. I know is not easy, I lived what you are living, but you have to have a positive energy. Second, you have to be proactive, not reactive. Some people do not understand that risk management is about being proactive. Put your focus on early detection and early management. Third: IS NOT YOUR PROJECT, is the other project. So, make them responsible for each activity and create an escalation process. Saving Changes...

These are all excellent responses. I am new to PM from a tight timeline perspective. I have been on projects for 20 years + and all projects have been more of a support role. Now tight timelines that are unreasonable are being communicated to me yet I am to PUSH people as much as possible. I really need a PowerPoint template of a timeline to show critical dates being pushed...does anyone have any links to a free template?
sometime ago i have found the follwing tool for conducting timeline powerpoints and since than i have used it a lot; it is pricelss for this special purpose and saved me 100s of hours.

If all the risk point back to you and you are also so afraid, then why don't you look into your own self and try to find what you have been doing wrong all this time. You have not done any risk management at all, and now when someone started identifying those risks, you are in chaos. I suggest you learn and apply risk management or take on the blame.
