>A term may include multiple words.
>Acronyms are fine. please include the expansion before the description.
>Your term needs to be followed by a short description of the term.
>No successive posting of term by the same member. The below one is fine.

Agile Contracting

The first lesson we learnt in contracting out agile software development (or anything else for that matter), is to align objectives of the supplier and the customer. It is highly desirable to align supplier success with customer success.
The key here is to define the product vision and what must be achieved; foster shared ownership of the goals by treating your supplier as a partner; and consider offering the supplier incentives for meeting key business performance indicators that require partnership with you.

Negotiation -

Negotiation, meaning “discussion intended to produce agreement”, is fundamental to every software project. (And other projects too – my examples just happen to come from the software industry.) Developers and customers must reach agreement on what the system is supposed to do. A wise agreement will define achievable goals and meet the users’ real needs.
In Fisher and Ury’s book, Getting to Yes, they call their approach “principled negotiation”. It contains four key elements:
? Separate People from the Problem
? Focus on Interests, not Positions
? Invent Options for Mutual Gain
? Use Objective Criteria
Both parties would be better served to engage in dialog about their underlying interests. Such dialog is encouraged by agile processes. They promote discussion, provide better opportunities to explore interests, and avoid premature “lock in” of positions. Fisher and Ury’s style of negotiation is not about winning and losing. It’s about everybody winning.

Non Functional Requirement (NFR):
A requirement that does not relate to functionality but to system attributes such as security, scalability, reliability, efficiency, usability, maintainability, and portability, which product backlog items must possess for acceptable by the stakeholders. The nonfunctional requirements can be written as independent user stories, can be part of Acceptance criteria, included as part of DoD (Definition of Done).

Team Space -

William Pietri put together a list of rules for great development spaces. Amongst the well documented suggestions like putting the team together, room for daily standup, enough whiteboards and information radiators other suggestions included,
? Get collaboration-friendly desks – William suggested this as one of the big pitfalls. He mentioned that many companies would like to foster collaboration but end up having furniture which is hostile to it.
? Minimize distractions – The recommended rules to minimize distractions for the development stations include no phones, no email or IM, no off-topic conversation, less foot traffic and executives stay on mute.
? Only direct contributors sit in the room – No chickens and certainly not the receptionist nor the sales people who would mostly be on the phone.
? Pleasant space – Good lighting, decent air, plants, decorations and snacks.

Emotional Intelligence -

Self Awareness
Awareness of one's own feelings and the ability to recognize and manage these feelings in a way which one feels that one can control. This factor includes a degree of self-belief in one's ability to manage one's emotions and to control their impact in a work environment.
Emotional Resilience The ability to perform consistently in a range of situations under pressure and to adapt one's behavior appropriately. The facility to balance the needs and concerns of the individuals involved. The ability to retain focus on a course of action or need for results in the face of personal challenge or criticism.
Motivation The drive and energy to achieve clear results and make an impact: and to balance both short and long term goals with an ability to pursue demanding goals in the face of rejection or questioning.
Interpersonal Sensitivity The facility to be aware of, and take account of, the needs and perceptions of others when arriving at decisions and proposing solutions to problems and challenges. The ability to build from this awareness and achieve 'buy-in' to decisions and ideas for action.
Influence The ability to persuade others to change a viewpoint based on the understanding of the position and the recognition of the need to listen to this perspective and provide a rationale for change.
Intuitiveness The ability to arrive at clear decisions and drive their implementation when presented with incomplete or ambiguous information using both rational and 'emotional' or insightful perceptions of key issues and implications.
Conscientiousness The ability to display clear commitment to a course of action in the face of challenge and to match 'words and deeds'; in encouraging others to support the chosen direction. The personal commitment to pursuing an ethical solution to a difficult business issue or problem.
