We will diversify with Project Management.
For me, the project management skills and challenges will need to be developed through time. And with the available of PMI, we can further fast track our depth understanding on project management. Not only that, we have inculcated good practices from others and apply to our project.
Project management, the skills to manage the whole project. It is like how Mr.President who manage the country. You have to manage everything and be able to understanding the basis thing of it i.e. technical, economics and etc. From there you will be able to manage the projects in betters way.
Since i'm handling oil and gas industry, this project management practices a lot. From there i can see from the PM Handbook, we can apply a lot and improve in managing project. We can avoid a lot of failure throughout the project and we can ensure the project progress on track. Even with knowledge of project management, we can already predict what will happen if we will not plan accordingly as method require.
Yes I love Project Management. !! Saving Changes...
I love the field of project management as it is constantly evolving.I love the fact that how project management techniques need to change with the changing business world.
Long time ago, project management was just about managing materials, machines and products I.e. physical resources. It was also about managing people and money. These incuded mainly cost ,revenues, projections ,budgeting etc.
But with rapidly changing business world managing physical resources, human resources and economic resources is not enough.
New dynamics require a manager to be more of a philosopher who can grasp changing business environment and opportunities and translate them into tangible products to be used by masses.
New dynamics require management of one more resource I.e. ideas.Yes, in Agile world it is equally important to identify ideas and implement them effectively as per changing technological, social and political environment.
Change in today's world means that companies have to adopt foreign technologies and process to keep up with the competition and it also requires to give up on obsolete technologies. This technological change requires a project manager who is sharp and intellectual enough to grasp the ideas that can be effectively implemented and pool resources to translate ideas into results.
Secondly ,project managers have to be intelligent enough to understand social trends, ethnic groups, preferences of masses and various income groups and they will have to develop solutions to the problems of these masses as per social trends. These again requires management of ideas.
Lastly, political factors matter a lot too as they guide direction of the changes.Again technical knowledge is not enough for a manager to catch up with political changes. He will have to keep an eye on changing political climate of the world.
In conclusion, changing business world needs managers who are philosophers as well to keep up with the agile world. Saving Changes...
