How important is Cost of Quality and how does it impact the overall Project?

From my side, there is no confusion at all between Quality and Grade, both are totally different things.

I've done previously COS & COQ. In cost of quality, we first checked the level of quality required and based on that we assessed the preventive and appraisal costs. Cost of Non-Conformance,we used to assign a contingency reserve for it based on previous lessons learned or Avoid / Mitigate in case of scrap for example.

As works progressed, if any rework surfaced for some reasons, we record all the details on an" Abortive Work Format" so we know how much was spent on quality in terms of Non-Conformance then it will be lessons learned and so on. IMHO, COQ and COS are very important and plays pivotal role in maintaining project success.
