How to tell your director that he is wrong?

is it preferable to tell your direct manager that you are wrong or you need to be diplomatic all the time?

Disagreements or conflicts are common in daily work and must be handled based on the situations. In case of disagreement with your immediate boss or director, usually he/she is not not open or willing to accept your idea, but you can support your argument with facts and valid justifications to convince him.

However, in some situations you can be diplomatic provided that it will not impact the ultimate objectives or goals of the project/program or organization and when you are not sure which way to go.

I think that it's better to say that he is wrong, but you must always have facts and numbers to demonstrate it. Obviously you must be diplomatic when you say that he is wrong and you must be proactive to propose a solution or an idea and not only saying that he is wrong.
