On Facebook, I connect only with close friends and family; on LinkedIn, I connect with business associates, as well as old schoolmates etc., with the idea that I have at least met them and spoken with them. I just noticed that I have a number of requests to connect to me on this site. What criteria do you use to connect? Have they asked me because of a post I've made, or are they randomly looking at profiles to pick someone of interest, or just looking to get as many contacts as possible? How do you choose who to connect with?

Neale,

The idea of this website and community is to connect with people and network on a professional level with like-minded professionals regardless of your profile, background or any other criteria.

As a new member of this community, I would assume that all active members would be glad to connect with you, help guide you through anything you need, share and contribute, etc. It is not about getting as many contacts as possible as there is neither a reward for this nor a purpose behind doing so except connecting, networking, and meeting new professionals even though it is somehow virtual but I personally found it extremely exciting and beneficial.

Hope this helps.

Regards,
RK
