communication style in the negotiation: direct or indierct style?

I'd like to know about the style of communication is adopted in your country/culture. is preferable an indirect or direct style?
Which are the peculiar elements should be considered for having an effective negotiation?

Communication styles in Canada tend to, generally, be more direct in urban centers and indirect in rural areas.

For effective negotiations, you need people to be comfortable and trusting. You adjust your communication style and effort to get to that starting point.
