Hello, Question --> if I lead an Integration Project with a group of people from two different companies which are Merging , can it be considered as a virtual team management, as location wise and as an organization we are still separate units ?
I would have to answer yes as was mentioned in the Webinar, technically, you could be considered virtual if you are located on different floors of the same building. I am anxious to see how others answers too. Saving Changes...
Great presentation today Suja. Thank you so much! I have successfully managed virtual teams in the past but your ideas will make my next team that much stronger! Saving Changes...
Hello Guys, do you have experience in Virtual team for large eng. construction projects? What would be a good limit number of Virtual people? 5? 10? 100? Thanks Saving Changes...
How does the Tuckman model differ, if at all, in a Virtual Environment? I see the Tuckman model as not addressing the entire team as it would for colocated members.
Incidentally, I was researching on that too and found the book Virtual Teams: Reaching Across Space, Time and Organisations With Technology by Lipnack and Stamps. This is a very comprehensive book. They modify Tuckman’s seminal model of team development so that it can be applied to virtual teams. The new model still incorporates the initial period
of inefficiency that occurs directly after formation that Tuckman described, but shows
virtual teams achieving a level of effectiveness in less time than traditional teams. Take a look at that one and tell me what you think. Saving Changes...
Some of the questions I collected during the presentation are here. I will try and answer them soon, but if anyone wants to chime in and share your thoughts, you are very welcome!
Colin Cantlie: QUESTION: Do video-conferences make up (at all) for loss of non-verbal cues?
Lisa Powers: that was my question--how do you really build trust virtually unless you already have a relationship? it's hard enough even with F2F
PRASAD PISHARAM: Team lead to act as a "change agent" ?
Silas Tora: What do you think about multiple project leaders on a project?
PRASAD PISHARAM: if needed constructive negative feedback as well ?
John Caron: QUESTION: Do you deem the Tuckman model equally applicable for Virtual Teams too?
ADEDAMOLA OYEGOKE: QUESTION: what are the practical ways to overcome challenges in pronunciation/intonation while engaging in a phone conversation with members in a diverse virtual team? especially for time management purposes
Hamid Reza Malek: Q: how can a virtual team leader distinguish weakness or strength of a virtual team member to coach her(him)?
Michael Edward Putnam: Question: Are there other quick ways to build trust virtually beyond virtual kick-off? Saving Changes...
