PSA Tool Search

I'm the VP of Program Mgmt at a 60-80 person consulting firm. I've defacto taken control of resource loading/forecasting within the firm and we're gradually approaching a point where the use of excel as a resource mgmt tool is no longer scalable. The variety of PSA tools out there is mind boggling. Does anyone have a recommendation for a tool(s) which isn't a 20 ton goliath, isn't ASP, and which doesn't require tight integration with MS Project (we went down that path with MS Project Central...big mistake). Would love any helpful feedback.

Thanks

My company is an IT Professional Services organization. We brought together the following applications to meet our needs:

  • PM's use Workbench or MS Project for creating schedules and assigning resources.
  • Data is stored in Niku, and then exported to Workbench or Project files.
  • Resources are drawn from a central Niku database. This database is accessed to draw reports on utilization and forecasted utilization.
  • Time keeping and billing is done through Niku.
  • A corporate Portal is utilized to provide views to team resources, reports to management, store and track issues, and provide document management at the project level.
