Have you worked Initiatives ? (*The one which cannot be called as projects).
Could you please share your experience of the Initiatives handling in terms of Management and Governance.

I would like to know your view on how it is different from governing normal projects?
what is to be looked and focused in terms governance.

I feel benefits to be focused.

Initiatives are allways transformed into projects. If not they have no reason to exists. Everythng an organization does is because the organizational strategy. And projects are the means to put strategy into action. Sorry if I did not understand your point.

We have just started some initiatives in our organization like Release Management,Metrics,Risk Management etc and some of the goals of these initiatives are Increased predictability on delivery,Adoption of business metrics/ acumen to delivery (mapping efforts/metrics to $),Continuous reduction of $/hour thru delivery management .

We are in the initial stage so I may not be able to give more information.

Initiatives are a cross between a project and operations. Once you start your initiative there is no end.

Typical initiatives: continuous improvement, organizational maturity, and governance.
