If you have the exchange servers in place, and a well tested process to migrate -- overnight (a few hours to literaly overnight depending on the size of the mailbox).

Otherwise:

Back End Work

1. Specifiy server hardware - 2 hours if you have standards, 1 day if you are a small firm and need to go to VARs to price.
2. Receive signoff from project sponsor. Could be 30 minutes to two weeks.
3. Wait for delivery of hardware - 1 week max in this market.
4. Build server - hardware (2 hours); Software (4-6 hours) -- Assume person has done this work before
5. Integrate into NT Domain / Activer Directory 1 hour
6. Install monitoring tools and configure -- unless you are a small shop that runs till it breaks (3 hours)

IN PARALLEL - User Survey

1. Survey users. Gather the following
a) mailing lists (private)
b) private NSFs that need to migrate as folders
c) data storage requirements on the server
d) who else has access to mail file (e.g., asst)

IN PARALLEL - Migration Process

1) determine move methodology (3 days)
2) simulate move methodology (1 day)

SCHEDULE USERS

1) First set of low impact users (include yourself)
2) remainder of users

Dear Thomas, you can do this on a Saturday with time to spare. Good Luck.
