Merging 2 Applications

Hello All,

I am working on a business case with a project management twist to determine what advantages would make for merging 2 applications that have the same functionality but cater to 2 different audiences.

I need a standard of reference from the PM point of view, like predicting savings in building, maintaining and deploying the apps. Maintenance is the key. Is there a reference that exists for an approach to EAI ?
