I am about to prepare to take the CAPM test. I want to take course work that will assist me in specializing in one particular industry. I have a background in law and contracts.
How do I determine the best area or industry in which to specialize as a Project Manager? My background is in contracts and law. I have worked in the area of medical research contracts, construction, and local government. I am also willing to try on a new industry. Non-profit organizations interest me the most. Any ideas? Thank you for your reply. I do also have a background as a Technical Writer prior to entering law school. I worked mostly with engineers. But, I am waaaaay behind in knowing technology well enough to perform project planning in that field. I am considering taking a course in international business. I just am concern that still will run short of a specialization. Okay, so, where are my interests? You name it, with the exception of IT, I am interested in it. That, you see, is my very problem.
I discovered as an adult that I was born with an innate understanding of science. So, I would love to go towards biomedical or medical research. I also have an interest in public service--any area of public service. If it does good in the world, there I would like to be.
I am worried that I need to go in one direction or another. Saving Changes...
