I'm working as program manager since couple of months for a start-up and I find the responsibilities as program manager ranges from requirement gathering, customer's point of contact, interface with multiple team such as engineering , operations and product team ; planning multiple release for different client ; however i don't manage budget & profitability since company is evolving phase ; no resource directly report to me ; responsible for successful launch of project
As above responsibilities likely to differ from program manager role in structure organization, Does the above task, which I'm doing. will add value to professional experience as program manager.?. Do other organization will fail to understand my role as program manager?

Generally speaking, the answer is NO if you want to continue working as program manager. The reason because the program manager role is implemented inside an organization is integration. This is the key characteristic to take into account. What you integrate? Today, you integrate all related to create value (value is a subjective matter that organizations have to convert into objective once) to the whole organization. And integration is key to generate value because is the mean to evaluate any impact when you try to put in place the organizational strategy. The best thing you can do is reading the PMBOK description about project, programs and portfolios and if yor are a PMI member read and understand the program management standard (my recomendation is to do the same with portfolio management standard).
