Ethical code and negotiation: which relationship?

Everybody should have a personal code. This affirmation is valid for organization too. During a negotiation we can stay at point where our ethic principles seems to contrast our interest and negotiation result.
I think we should maintain our ethic position and not forget it for an immediate gain or for getting the maximum profit from negotiation.
From my point of view this the only position we can have not only because is the right one but because in a long therm vision is the most "profitable"
Do you have the same vision?
In your opinion which are the benefit we have from applying this strategy?
