Yes your reputation plays a role in negotiation and sometimes in financial too. Ideally the reputation is earned with your good work and customers always trust people, who have better delivery record.
All PM must thing each project as first project to do with great dedication and sincerity to earn reputation.
Other benefit of your proven records could be to negotiate the schedule changes.
