I currently hold a CSM and was wondering if there would be an advantage of persuing the PMI-ACP from PMI

Being a Certified Scrum Master, like PMI's PMP, highlight your management and leadership skills.

PMI's PBA or IIBA's CBAP would showcase your analytical skills. These are good to have if you wish to do more general consulting work.

Yes, it was, should I persue a ACP? I already have a CSM...

Forgive me if this is a basic question, but I understand that there are different flavours of Agile certifications: CSM, XP, ACP

Help me understand...

I would suggest, George that you post your new question separately. It will attract Agile-knowledgeable people (e.g. Sergio) that may not come to this post.

Stephane, is the trail cleared now? or you still consider I should post a new separate question?

I understand that Scrum is the most famous agile methodology. I read that agile gives us flexibility to revisit the requirement based on customer unwanted or additional demand.

I have read also that its methodologies are usually recommended for small projects that require immediate resolution for teams of 2 and with direct user involvement.

But since they are so many flavours one might easily get confused on the advantages and differences of all these providers.

Even though I'm a CSM, I get confused when given a sounding answer about all these differences...

There is a trend in our company and worldwide on agile/scrum initiatives so I want to master the differences so I can answer correctly.

George, the kicker here is it sounds like you're in the pursuit of knowledge. Read up on XP, Lean, Kanban and in addition to Scrum, you've pretty much covered the content of the ACP. The PMI-ACP is merely going to certify that you fundamentally understand that content. You should be a practitioner first. CSM doesn't require any experience for certification but PMI-ACP does.

I was a content reviewer on the PMI-ACP certification, when it was being created. Though I was passionate out it at the time, the 3 certifications that are getting people interviews are CSM, PMP, and Certifieed SAFe Practitioner. Though the certifications will help you get to the next interview, your experiences are what will make you marketable.

Thanks Derek, I have used XP before like for 6 months and I'm a CSM certified, but I by NO means consider my self an expert in the matter...

Side note! No need to mention PMP is a must for us that has made it a living for years :)
