When it comes to the hiring of PMs I would say that its a totum of the following...
Experience
Certification
Intellect and Relationship
Personally I have advised on many projects however having full end to end experience is minimal. Hard to find work as a direct PM because of my consulting role but the certifications and relationships help get me those consulting helicopter roles. Wish there was some sort of 1:1 experience chart but its hard.

Hi Drake -
You perfectly understand the dilema: it's easy to say get full experience and then get certified, but you won't get a job without having that experience.
I like your realistic approach, of handling a full end to end project, giving you the knowledge (not necessary full experience) and then earn the certification, that allong with good relationships with help you get those roles that will give you the full experience.
Thanks for your feedback, but you still needs to give me your take, what goes first for you?
Experience will always be a plus over certification. Certification will confirm an organize experience PM.

Experience and then certification is the sequence for at least PMP. I am not sure whether PMP certification can be done without experience .

Experience is always a must. Certification is only a way of demonstrating your experience.
Hi Stephane - No one doubts that, but the question is what comes first...
So your position is for someone to acquire experience prior to get certified.
