Hi Motaz,

One of the things you want to make sure of is, you are really fluent in the risk management processes that are required in each phase of the project. Each of those processes has inputs and outputs. These inputs and outputs all roll into the next phase of the project.

I know this is a real understatement of fact, but you really need to know risk management down in the weeds, but also enough about project management to understand what and why of project management.

I got my PMP before I got my RMP and this is just something to keep in mind. The PMP asks questions across the breadth of project management so you are only going to get at most 3 - 5 questions on any process involved in the whole "scope" of project management, so not to much depth. Where the RMP is all about Risk Management so every question is going to be the in-depth what, why and how risk management helps the project.

Good Luck and don't be too hasty to retake the test.

I attempted for PMI RMP exam on yesterday and I failed it. I got Below Target on "Stakeholder Engagement".
I studied 1) PMI-Risk Management Book and PMI RMP Exam Prep by Belinda Fremouw and Simplilearn material. I did mock test on Simplilearn and got above 70% average.
I got few terms in exam which I never gone through which are Neuro-linguistic programming (NLP), Correlation coefficient, Utility Function and Agile Project Management. I want to learn again. I request you to please recommend me some books or tips so that I can learn more about Risk Management.
Thanks in advance.

Hi Motaz, I would recommend that you also read the PMBOK chapters on Stakeholder Management, Risk Management and Glossary of terms. I believe that the equation you are looking for is in the Stakeholder Management section.

From my experience while you don't have to know everything about project management to pass the RMP exam, but you do need to understand how all of the processes fit together.

The good news is that you only failed one section so it should be easy to get up to speed on that section and retake the exam. My advice is don't wait too long or you will lose momentum.

Good Luck on the next try.

I am planning to appear for RMP-PMI in two-three months time. Friends, can you guide me on following queries :
1) What extend do questions come from PMBOK? I mean other than risk management.
2) Is Rita Mulachy's book necessary to go through?
3) Any suggestions on strategy to clear exam the first time?
Still any body here needs guidance passing the RMP Exam ?
