My son was just accepted in a very nice Kindergarten program and prior to his acceptance, I spoke with the staff in how I would like to give back via my PMP. Each parent is encouraged to give 30 hours per academic year, personally, I will give more than this. I am also "paying it forward" by attending the NEFL PMI chapter and assisting with educational study groups. In addition, I attend spin off groups by attending participants study groups. From the above, I ADMIRE Michelles Daigles! Saving Changes...

For the past several years I have been using my skills on the local subdivision board. However I have found myself to be an ambassador for PM at work because although I am on a team of project managers, no one has been subscribing to the PMI processes, forms, or techniques. No one but me had even heard of PMI or the PMP, let alone thought of being certified.

The same is with me. I finally managed to convince my colleague and former boss to take the PMP certification, helped him with the application and studding. I hope that, at the end, it will pay off and that more and more my colleagues will see the benefit of investing in formal certification and not only „learning by doing“; which is now a common approach in my company.
I use my Project Mgmt skills ( Initiation/Planning) for social events like awareness campaign on Human rights/Environmental issues/ Elderly care ....I must confess, due to my day job ...I hardly get to participate in the "Execute" phase of such events....but then closure is another aspect, which I oversee, by collecting feedback and charting the course for next such events....BR//GS Saving Changes...

As per my opinion, the best way to give back is through Mentoring. Most of the time I have met people who question the necessity of PMP and Project Management. This is where the toughest challenge comes to the front for a Project Manager and I am glad I have been able to make people understand the Project Management usage through successful projects and lead them to PMP certification. I have been contributing through papers, seminars in my organization. Saving Changes...
