Great leaders are lifelong learners. Their potential is always increasing and never gets "used up" so there is always more to give. Share what you are learning and how you are increasing your potential as a project leader.

Breaking News: After 40+ years, Samuel has announced today that he has become all that he can be. There is nothing more.

Fact check report: Samuel was specifically asked if he can walk on water, if he can flawlessly execute any project at any future time, or lead all employees in just the right way. He answered: No, not really.

Conclusion: Samuel still has a lot more way to go. It seems that the learning possibilities are endless

Very creative response. Thanks for taking the time. There is always more to learn which means there is always more to give. What type of things are you focusing on right now in your personal and professional development?

Great leaders are social animals, extending their network, interested in other people, trying to support youngsters, giving back their knowledge.

Which gives them a sense of purpose even when they are beyond operational business, surrounds them with new ideas to keep them thinking and may mitigate the risk of getting lonely.

Look at all the old guys in project management (Jim Snyder, David Pells, Max Wideman to name a few), who are still out there and making a difference.

Giving back key to being a successful leader. Having a sense of purpose is also an important aspect of leadership. How do you give back?

Great comments in the above. Speaking for myself, I stated after earning my PMP I would take an Italian Cooking class at a local college to satisfy my Italian cravings. Well, I have never walked into the Italian Cooking class and find my desire to give back supersedes my appetites for ziti and cannoli. I am now starting studies for my PMI-ACP and will once again state, "After this certification, I plan to attend a local college and......"

Yes, I too doubt I will go there as I chase more formal knowledge for my profession.

There is a Zen story that tells about cup full of tea. The tea represents knowledge, and what is in the cup is our ego. A full cup means that we know everything, and would refuse to learn.

Without emptying the cup, it becomes tough for us to learn more, though there is no age limit, and no end to learning.
