Program Manager & Technical Consultant

Hi All,

I don't know whether its a right forum to present this question. Let me C what responses will I get as I have this doubt all the while.

On a professional company, if a preson has to choose working as a Program Manager or Technical Consultant which one would you feel is more challenging and more demanding in the industry?
A program manager, could be handling a specific business unit with a set of people. Same way a Tech consultant would be heading a verticle unit in the same company?

Any suggestions/flames?
