Project Managers can move from sector to sector easily but it appears a business analyst MUST have deep domain knowledge in order to function properly and articulate the needs and interrelationships of stakeholders. What is your view concerning this?

From my point of view, A person who asks right questions and suggest the best solution to specific needs wins the good rate of feedback on business leads.

Though the technology or business requirement or domain is new to BA but run time analysis has to happen. It is also essential to be updated oneself even if you know any domain because everyday something new is happening.

Continuous knowledge improvement could be key to become SME as well as the horizontal deployment of your knowledge with BA's is also essential to benefit an organization.

Drafting the gathered requirement in simple but effective document adds value to your analysis. If you are poor in presentation then this could be risk for business agreements as well as negotiations.
