I think the key is to determine what you are looking for.
Are you looking for learning or something to put on CV?
For CV, the PMP is leading in market recognition. If for learning, MPM or others could be equally good if not better.
I do not know the MPM specifically so I cannot support or deny its value.
One more question to answer:
Are you looking for certification to validate or learning project management. I ask this question since learning can happen without the need for certification. Invest the same amount and time into a non-certification program and the value could be more. Saving Changes...

Mounir, I encourage you to laugh UNTIL you cry. I have heard of your above mentions and believe you coined it well about the PMI marketing powers. I wonder if a poll has ever been conducted on this site to ask people across the globe, which PM certification they believe has greatest merit. It would have to address their employer location. I would enjoy seeing the "OTHER" comments. Saving Changes...

I think in professional discussion boards one should be clear in the communication. If you really read my posts, you would notice that I always say that the PMP is leader in term of marketing and market value.
Again, I am responding to this message from you: "There is no reputable certification ... outside of PMI"
However, to say that there is no reputable certification outside of PMI, it is due to one of the following things:
1. You are not aware of what exists, or 2. You are aware but do not have experience with them, or 3. You chose to give an opinion not based on facts.
There are numerous certifications out in the world of project management, some of them are general and some are focused on specialty areas. Many of them are more stringent and have higher qualifications than the PMP.
You chose not to answer if you are familiar with some of the organizations that I mentioned and if you know what they offer. Saving Changes...

If you do a poll on this site - we know the answer in advance - this is a PMI website and the vast majority of users are PMI followers. A few, do know other organizations. Saving Changes...

Mounir, I read your posts in this thread word-for-word. I have an understanding of the aforementioned credited programs, thus, I am aware of "what exists". You are correct with statement number two, I do not have (direct) experience outside of PMI and their offerings, by choice. Saving Changes...
MPM is legit it just that its not very popular. Its goal primarily is to grant certification thru a board review of an individuals background (i.e education and work experience) rather that solely award a certification thru an exam. Having 20+ years of industry experience and recently completing a graduate level academic certificate program in project management along with having a Masters degree I decided to seek out this certification first. I may eventually add the PMP but I'm in no rush as I don't desire to be a full time PM. For me the PMP is more of an insurance policy if I decide to later do PM work. Also there are other certs that are just as good as PMP (i.e PPM,Prince2, , etc..) but again don't have the backing of an organization as large as PMI. Saving Changes...

Every time I've seen someone with an "MPM," it's an actual Master's Degree, a Master's in Project Management. My last school offered one of these. Frankly, I was unaware that there was a certificate with the same initials. Saving Changes...
