While reading another discussion, I wondered if anyone else has experienced an audit for a PMI certification? I did, for my third application.

I did set up a poll to capture some numbers:

Share you audit story here.

Justin - I would want to hear what a PMI spokeperson have to reply with such a good argument as you post. :)

I would even take it further, why not eliminate auditing, you should have all the requirements validated up front for everyone, even before you pay.

Anyway it's just a thought.
Besides avoiding being a deterrent, as Justin mentioned, I suppose PMI has chosen to do it sparingly to not weigh down the application intake process.

What I would be curious is the % audited by certification!
Hello Vincent,

there are no official numbers about that. Rumors telling about 10% of the applications.
But in the last 12 to 18 months the "feeling" was, that the have increased the number of audtis at PMI.

Hello All,

well my PMP application was audited and all i could say, just be good prepared and all is fine.
There is nothing to worry about as long as you where honest and precise with all your infomration you have provided.
If you are good prepared than it is just an adminstrative act and somewhat tie consuming, but nothing bad.

But, if you for example just have announce your contact persons withoutr informing them or even without contacting them before your application and now you got audited and than you have to run after them for the signings ... well this could raise some serious probs ...

I have used - for preparations towards the cause i got audited - the PM Audit Kit by Cornelius Fichtner and it helped me a lot.
Passing audit for me was a brease ...

Not during the PMP certification process, not when claiming PDUs

I was audited when applying for the PMP. It was easy for me. Provide copies of my education hours and have each supervisor on each of my projects sign off on a document stating my duties and hours reflected what I put on my application. The supervisors will have to put the signed documents in an envelope and then sign across the seal on the envelope. Then I gathered up all the envelopes and documents and sent them to the PMI. Within a few days, I was sent an email stating that I was cleared to schedule my exam.
