In recent weeks, we have been asked by management to find alternatives to our rapidly increasing Rational bills. Rational produce great tools, but the costs can often be prohibitive if you aren't using them business wide.

My project in particular needed to reverse engineer som C++ and java code to produce some class diagrams which had not been supplied by a vendor.

Go to www.ucancode.net and you will find the tool we used. It is cheap for a site licence and will produce some easily usable diagrams which can be commented and shared between applications.
