5 Things To Do If You Are Not Getting Interviews - Do You Agree?
John Caron, MBA, PMP, CSMVP - Technology Project Solutions Consultant| Bank of AmericaJacksonville, Fl, United States
Today, I received an email from LinkedIn and stumbled across this in a subsection of the note. I'm curious, do you agree with the five and if not, which in particular do you disagree?

may be all the 5 is correct, the only way to find out is to test by including the recommendation in next resume update and wait. Saving Changes...

I am bit skeptical about having social media presence point, as I have not seen much benefit of it till now.
But would like to know way to better exploit it.

It took me a while - lets say 4 to 5 years - to see some real effect in it.
I think number 5 is the most effective. But number 1 got me some first contacts with recruiters which then led to interviews. Number 4 is definitively a must which requires Number 3 to be in effect. I haven't tried number 2 yet, at least not intentional but maybe unconciously :-) Saving Changes...

Rolf, in my humble opinion, I think social media can benefit as many potential employers will review a persons Facebook and LinkedIn to get a snapshot before any interview. I am building my contacts list on this site as I never know when I would like to work overseas not to mention the great folks that are adding value to numerous blogs and threads, as you did here. Now a joke, to bad we cant claim PDUs for all the blogs and comments...just kidding.

John, I agree. Even if it took me some years to see the effect, I guess I got some interviews where I didn't know they looked into social media.

Number 1 is really good with LinkedIn. Connecting by participating in groups, following companies that you're interested in working for, and adding contacts that way. It's the old fashioned face to face networking but in the digital age.

Hi Justin, in one simple statement, you have summed it up well with your statement of digital age face to face networking.
