Today, I received an email from LinkedIn and stumbled across this in a subsection of the note. I'm curious, do you agree with the five and if not, which in particular do you disagree?
Rolf, in my humble opinion, I think social media can benefit as many potential employers will review a persons Facebook and LinkedIn to get a snapshot before any interview. I am building my contacts list on this site as I never know when I would like to work overseas not to mention the great folks that are adding value to numerous blogs and threads, as you did here. Now a joke, to bad we cant claim PDUs for all the blogs and comments...just kidding.
John, I agree. Even if it took me some years to see the effect, I guess I got some interviews where I didn't know they looked into social media. Saving Changes...

Number 1 is really good with LinkedIn. Connecting by participating in groups, following companies that you're interested in working for, and adding contacts that way. It's the old fashioned face to face networking but in the digital age.
Hi Justin, in one simple statement, you have summed it up well with your statement of digital age face to face networking. Saving Changes...

I've certainly noticed an increase in the amount of recruiters using LinkedIN, although not sure how much stock they put into having the skills/references available for them to review. Saving Changes...
I disagree with point 1. I refuse to have a social media presence, and I think my employer should have no interest in my social life. I have found that not having a social media presence (Facebook, Linked In, Twitter, etc) has made it easier to find work in areas where security and professionalism are valued more than employee engagement. Unfortunately, some HR types have placed their faith in social media stuff and that may cause me to be overlooked by some companies. Their loss, not mine. I probably don't want to work for that kind of company anyway. Saving Changes...
The 5 are good

Well, I have started my try with Number 1.Build Your Social Media Presence
However I would like to know more about Number 2. Lower Your Sights a Little I am a PMO, and I am looking out for Associate PM or PM positions, I am not sure if this is aiming high. But unless you have the exposure (experience) everything seems to be aiming high when your not a fresher. Not sure I am asking the right question here :) Saving Changes...
