Looking for an RFR template--Request for Resources--to use during project planning.

I'm a PM in a functional org. in which resources must be id'd and requested for each WBS task. Any templates or guidelines out there would be greatly appreciated!

Why did you post anonymously?

Assuming you are using a WBS, then all you need to do is identify what skill type / skill level you need for each task - that part is easy. The more difficult part establishing when you need them, and I assume that this is the problem. Well, if I am right, a template is not the answer - planning is.

Converting your WBS, at what ever level of detail you determine to be 'right for you' to a dependency diagram will help you determine when each task needs to be done. Supposedly the project management package do this, but I wouldn't trust one at all.

Workiing the dependency network manually, what come first, where are the dependencies, every task is is / must have a predecessor / successor (even if only a resource dependency) and plotting on a wall with post its will permit the calculation of your critical path (earliest start / earliest finish / etc.) Then, chunking the diagram by time period, vertically and by placing each node is its appropriate verticle slice, you can draw down out of the dependency diagram into a matrix across the bottom (horizontally divided by time period and vertically by resource type) your resource needs / demands for the project.

When the resource manager laughs in your face for your demands, you can then obtain what is available, and based on what is available you can then move the nodes around on your dependency / timing diagram to determine when your project is likely to finish.

Just a quck dash at your problme, but I hope it helps.
