I believe this organization can help... http://www.vets2pm.com/

I am not affiliated with them, but I have personally seen and heard from the co-founders as part of the PMI Central Indiana Chapter events

I earned a Project Management Certificate from a continuing education provider (UC Berkeley Extension - 210h instruction). I then completed the PMP and CSM certification. All things considered this was about a $7,000 investment over 7 months. I already had deep technical experience, as a cloud service systems engineer. Last month I was able to successfully enter a Sr Infrastructure PM role for City and County of San Francisco on an 8m contract. Pay rate increased about 70% from prior role, the additional pay beyond previous earnings will represent a little under 10x ROI after first year (will likely exceed that with expected salary increases). I think once you successfully land that first PM gig then the sky becomes the limit for you, good luck and enjoy the journey!
