Product life cycle is the same for any type of product. Project life cycle will deffer for each industry and initiative. So, perhaps I did not understand your question, but you have to review all the life cycle phases and what is the most important (and most of the time forgotten) you have to review your enterprise architecture and the type of product/service/result you will create before taking a project life cycle to do something. Example: suppouse you will create a software product and you decide to take one of the agile software development methods (while agile is not related to software only). To understand if all is ready for that and to evaluate impacts you can follow the Tom Peter“s Seven S Model.
