Hope you can help my students.

PBT or CBT?

PBT is less flexible when compared to CBT.

Generally, exam dates are announced by PMI. One has to wait long for the available date. For any rescheduling or cancelling it is required to email to PMI 35 days from scheduled exam date, failing to do so will require full re-examination fee. Exam results may take 6 to 8 weeks to be available online.

There are few preconditions as well, like one has to be in the given proximity of test center, number of people for PBT, etc.

Positive reasoning for taking the PBT?

1. PBT is cost-effective, you may save few $ in exam fee, re-examination, travelling to other cities
2. PBT allows in depth analysis of the exam by paying extra $

George, I wish I could experience the PBT. I have Prometric testing close by, and they offer CBT.

Almost a year back, I got email from PMI India about PBT organized in another city 160 miles (approx. 258 Kms) from my place. Excerpts below -

"PMI brings you Group Paper Based Testing (Group PBT) for PMPĀ® Exam in Jaipur!
You no longer have to travel to Gurgaon or any other city to take your PMP test!

Take it right here in Jaipur - save cost, time and energy."

I will try to pull some more information on PBT. Thanks!!

Anupam - thanks for your input...

I have experienced both... So I can say there are tests that are best on CBT and other test are best on CBT.

It depends... but there is surely a lot of justification around each option...

The question does not only go for PMP, but for the other tests as welll...
