PBT Vs CBT Comparison #1
#1 In terms of pre-condition, CBT has edge over PBT as there is no pre-condition for CBT
PBT as a Pre-condition that Candidates should live at least 300 km (186.5 miles) from a CBT Centre. 300 km limit does not apply if a corporate organizes PBT for its employee.
PBT as no Pre-condition because anyone can apply for CBT. Saving Changes...

CBT is my personal choice for exams like PMP. Along with your knowledge, patience is tested. if writing is another add on, candidate would be completely exhausted. PBT may be the only choice for remote locations where prometric/ network connects are not easily available. immediate n quick results is basic these days. For other exams, PBT may work better.

Shailja thanks for your input...
I would think that for PMP CBT is the route.. but for SP I would recommend the PBT, this is just my case, having to draw those diagrams didn't do it well for me as for a PBT test you could do it on the same exam sheet.

Having done a bunch of ITIL PBT, I'm slightly annoyed that my only option with the PMP is CBT.
with a PBT exam you can highlight parts of the question that are important, cross out distractor answers etc. Much better than CBT. For a 4 hour exam it's easier on the eyes aswell

Cliff - Totally agree, sometimes PBT is better for those long test with lengthy wording, a bunch of graphs and diagrams that you need to re-draw. When having those question on a sheet of paper you can easily write over the exam itself. Additionally you can go back and forth the end of the sheets to have a quick look and feel of what's coming. With CBT you can't do that easily (but this might be a matter of the software).
But again with CBT you avoid having to fill those annoying circles in the answer sheet which takes up a lot of time. And the useful possibility of re-scheduling easily, that awesome.
I would say it just depend on the type of test and the type of student. I wouldn't just say CBT or PBT is better without analyzing.

I gave PBT....
I will vote for PBT.
1) easy to look back on questions
2) always easy to track which questions I have left to answer for later
3) clock in not a hanging knife
4) Can see related questions quickly by just flipping the paper back and forth
