A lack of visibility causes remote managers to struggle to identify performance and engagement issues. What you should do to handle these challenges or recommend?

The first recommendation is obviously to increase the visibility by scheduling regular virtual meetings (conference call, video conference, ...) with the manager. I have been in such a situation when I used to work for a worldwide organization (I was based in France and my manager was located in the US).
An other possibility is to find a "Host Manager" locally that can be the dedicated management contact of proximity for any concerns or discussions related to the daily activities. He/she is a good evaluator of the job performance.
