Hi Tija, I think you need to consider various inputs for such relocation project such as
What kinds of IT Equipment's (like servers / NW / storage etc)? Where is the another location? What time it will take to down / move & install at new location and up again?
Do you have good down time, when you can do this activities in one stroke? or based on down time, can it be required to do in various batches and whether it is possible?
Insurance while relocating is required / needed? what is company policy about it?
Based on above may be you can derive some schedule for it. Saving Changes...

This is a critical piece in a Data Center relocation project. The power requirements.
1) You need to find out your current power consumption at your current Data Center excluding the HVAC. Use that information for reference. It will give you an idea what the new Data Center power requirements will be.
2) WIll you be bringing over every piece of hardware. a) Will there be new hardware. b) Will there be any hardware that will be retired.
3) Add up the power requirements for the devices going into new Data Center.
4) Determine the HVAC power requirements at the new Data Center.
5) Are you planning on having a UPS to power every piece of hardware or only mission critical hardware.
6) Size the UPS to power the selected hardware and how many hours your UPS can run before power is restored.
That is just the beginning. A lot more after power. I'll let the group jump in and provide their feedback too. Saving Changes...

I was the leader of that in my actual work place. My recommendation is do not waste time here and starting right now indentifying the key stakeholders with focus on enterprise architecture. Identifying them and start working with them. Saving Changes...

All the tactical stuff is pretty straight forward. The stuff that will get you in trouble is the strategic stuff. I would focus on timing, start with when is the absolute latest you can deliver? Also the budget you have to work with? Will you stand up new equipment or will you be moving stuff? Literally you need to think ground up with these things. Identify the key stakeholders and influencers right away. Saving Changes...
For all assets to be migrated:
- do a check list of assets
- schedule the waves of migration
- physical or virtual?
- mitigate the risks for physical assers with the firm that will physically move the assets and get from the firm an assurance in case of accident during the transpotation
- pre-check the spare parts with your vendor to be ready in case of failure of one or more HW parts (disks/motherboard, power supply); a good idea is to flag the disks with numbers and related hostname and move them with a different metod from the servers. Saving Changes...
