Hi Bala, I would say that it depends on the job and organization. Good to have some basic understanding of PM lifecycle.. the PMBOK will help. When I am job hunting I also try and parse the spec for keys also. It was once recommended to me to use something like Wordle to create a word cloud with the spec which will help hone in on keywords. Sometimes the job is looking for more than just PM skills so it is good to understand what that might be.
Also do research on the Company. It is good to look at the company websites. Also, use resources like Glassdoor to find out more about the company, people who work there and feedback on people who have interviewed(Often you can find someone who has interviewed for a similar job)
Finally, keep up with articles and blogs like those on this website. There may be useful tidbits that will help with your interview and keep you current.
