Hello,
I'm looking for any information people might have on PMP boot camp (live) classes.
Over the years I've realized learning in a traditional classroom environment is the best way for me to learn. Having the instructor in the same room, as well as other students, is much more engaging than web or video.
I have found a number of companies that offer live classes. I'm in Portland OR, but all of them offer classes all over the country, so feedback from other locations would still be valuable to me!
Most of the four day classes cost about $2000, which will be out of pocket for me, so I would really appreciate any feedback on them or other classes people have found to be worthwhile!
I took PMTI 4 day boot camp and took the exam the week after and passed. I liked the material was organized by Process Groups rather then Knowledge Areas which is what all the other textbooks and classes are arranged by. Good Luck!

Hi Brian,
In my opinion credential of the trainer is more important than the institute. Usually reputed institutes have good training material.
During the 4 days, you will with the trainer. A good trainer can make you understand the concepts.
Several of my staff used the Cheetah Learning PMP prep course "back in the day" and spoke highly of it. http://www.cheetahlearning.com/

They don't offer any in the "desert" of WA, either, but we've sent a few people to Seattle. Since you're looking at "self-funding", I understand the desire to stay close to home.. :-) Good luck.
Really excellent point! I'm going to take a look at who is teaching each of the classes and find out more about their background.

I used the PMStudy Boot Camp (4 days - Monday through Thursday) and passed my CAPM on that same Friday. I then used all the study material to study for my PMP test which I took 5 months later. I highly recommend PMStudy to everyone I talk to because of my highly-positive experience with them. Saving Changes...
I can not speak for any of the PMP live webased boot camp. But I did use the simulator from PMStudy which was very helpful. Saving Changes...

I took a four day online boot camp from projectmanagementacademy.com. The instructor was really good, and they offer tutoring sessions weekly where instructors answer questions from students.
I am retaking the boot camp this week (right before I sit for the exam) as a refresher too!

That's great you can re-take the boot camp, Sue. Is that included in the inital costs or is there an additional fee for taking it again?
