Anupam - Sharepoint is one the PMIS (not the only one) we use here. I has been very important as our daily work.

It's a must for us.

We use SharePoint on-prem as well as online - you have just everything in one place - information, communication, collaboration - there are so many useful tools you can decide to employ or not as well as integration with many other systems such as skype for business, project, etc. And when regarding governance and compliance matters, SharePoint is a save choice.

Bests!

Great point.
I do agree 100%. We have been using SharePoint for along time for all the reasons you describe. We have created SharePoints Templates for our programs (Transition / Transformation) to implement the PMIS for the different projects easier and we have integrated most of our Project Management Tools.
An other interesting feature is the possibility to give controlled access authorizations to our customers and partners so that we can really set up a coherent joint program/project with an efficient implementation of our Project Governance processes.

I use it pretty extensively as PMIS, although not completely, as am using older version of SharePoint (2010.)

Have built myself templates for issue/risk/tasks/decisions/change control; and I sync my project plan to the task list at every baseline.

Very useful tool!

I've used SharePoint online as a PMIS tool. It works well when you have team members internal and external to your organization without giving them access to all of your other systems.
Some downsides, but overall, I've found it to be a good tool.

Sharepoint is used widely in our company, not only as a PMIS but also as a collaboration and information system for all employees.
Especially for PM purposes (planning, monitoring, reporting, collaboration, ...) but also for compliance reasons it is integrated with other tools (e.g. MS Project Server).
As you can see, Sharepoint is not only helpful as a PMIS, it can (and should) be used in a whole organization.
My predecessors have already mentioned some pros and cons I've experienced too.

We use it asiIntranet base system and also as PMIS. Reasons are the same as written by the other posts.
