We use SharePoint to create tracking sheets, to separate tasks one from the other and to prioritize them.
We also use it as a document repository. We put our PM docs there, and can track their progress through stages of the project.

Yes dual use for me as well . Have used it as PMIS as well as a corporate intranet platform
