A tool is just a tool, no more than that. What I mean is that you have to understand if to use a tool will solve a business problem and then take into account all what will be impacted when you start to use it. All your organization will be impacted. Business, Application, Technology, Information and Security layers have to be taken into account. I am saying this because in my work career I was on both sides of the desk. Today we are involved in the process to implement a tool in the organization where I am working today.

Wilfredo, if you are asking this question, more than likely, you have not established the need for a tool. Start with Excel/Word etc. and see what problems and limitations you run into... that's when you know that you need a tool, and what it is for. If there are no problems or limitations, then I don't think you need a separate PM tool

The tool is less important than the process, Wilfredo.

Knowing a specialised Project Management tool will always be an added advantage as it will give you better result/analysis which the earlier tool may also give but may eat up critical time whereas the specialised Project Management tool will be fast.
