Moments ago, in a different thread, it was asked about people posting and or replying equally (paraphrased) and I thought about this subject. I'm anxious to read the replies and truly hope people are honest. Feel free to post anonymously if your employer frowns on upon visiting external websites while at work.

There should be a level of trust between the employer and the employee as the employer definitely hired this employee based on skills and qualifications so visiting external websites should not be a big deal as long as work is being accomplished properly and in timely manner.

My role is developing project management capability within our organisation, so I have a valid business need to access external websites and research material during work hour, but not everyone has, or needs, that level of access.

I agree with Rebecca and employer shouldn't have a problem in visiting external websites where we can improve our project management skills.

I do - Employer shall see this not as slacking, but as a tool to gain knowledge which ultimately benefits also the company.

So many valuable resources are available, it should be frowned upon to not take full advantage. Fortunately, it's not an issue for me.

I do because my performance goals include championing project management and mentoring project managers. This community provides me with a sounding board that helps in my professional work.

The expectation at our office is that we often are called to do work outside of normal working hours. The quid pro quo is part of this set of expectations.

I agree with all of the above, especially when visiting external sites (as this one) benefits a project, heightens the career path of a PM and more. Thanks for the brilliant replies and I hope to see more.
