Vendor selection

What direction would you offer teams charged to develop evaluation criteria for their respective functional areas (HR,cust relationship mgmt, systems, finance, etc.). I must prep the teams for viewing ERP vendor presentations--three consecutive 3-day presentations. Also, what functional criteria should I rate--the features of course will vary, but is functionality consistent across a suite of applications generally? Thank you for any suggestions--this is my first shot at solicitating and selecting vendors for an IT project. Thank you.
