I am doing research on the challenges faced by today's PMOs. I would really appreciate your candid response. This information will be used to inform my work on how to prioritize and select knowledge topics for future events and product offerings. It would also be helpful to know if you are a brand new PMO, a developing PMO or a mature PMO. Thank you,

The PMOs that I have built, consulted or maintained vary challenges depending on Sector(my opinion). If I was to have a combined or consolidated list I would list the following.
1. "Continuous" Alignment with Business Strategy. Note, It is easier to get everyone to start at the same spot. It is more of challenge to walk/run at the same pace.
2. Governance for "company wide" project and programs. We have technology PMOs that work really well. We have a ERP/Supply chain PMO that does not. Getting the full buy-in cross business unit for Governance is an issue.
3. Determining what "type" of PMO when first building the structure will be the right fit for the company. Saving Changes...
