I manage a team of 25 technical resources doing infrastructure projects and support across Asia Pacific and Europe. We use MS Project for projects and I am looking for a tool to help with Team Management so I can combine the project and support "views" of the world. We do about 60 projects a year. Ideally this tool would integrate tightly with MS Project. Any ideas or suggestions would be welcome. Thank you Saving Changes...
Not knowing the details, I think you would do well with a tool that: 1) Provides real-time web-based access 2) Separate authorities for updates and viewing of different projects. 3) Ability to have separate and customizeable views. 4) Link to other documents, including MS Project.
The Rational product, Requisite Pro, combined with Requisite Web can do these things. While setup and maintenance is not all that time consuming (once you know how), the configuration and design is something that takes some learning/experience.
I have put together enterprise projects with multiple views, different authorities, etc., and it has proven itself very useful for me.
The Rational Rose tool mentioned in prior post is designed for LARGE SCALE software development projects, not infrastructure projects which tend to be more and of a much smaller scale. Take a look at Project Central, a micro for MS Project and Primavera Project Planner as a starting point. Saving Changes...

Scott, Primavera is the best. It is really by far the most superior PM tool. Combined with Primavision it is really fanatastic for your needs. I am implementing it in my orgn and I realise it is fantastic. Let me know if you need any help Saving Changes...
Managing resources across multiple projects is tricky. The only approach I know of that works at all is Critical Chain. Concerto software from Speed to Market is a web-based system (using project data from MSP) for managing resources (and projects of course). It provides dynamic visibility of work loads (i.e. as dates change due to delays, changes, etc.) and also shows the relative priority of tasks--ie which ones are critical to be done now to finish projects on-time, and which ones have more slack and might be delayed. Because it is web-based it enables people in any locations to view real-time info, and to input updates.
I hope this helps a little, and I apologize if I sound like a software salesman, I'm not. If you would like sources of more info I would be happy to send [email protected]
