I am not sure that project management is simple, it is a comprehensive discipline that requires training and experience. Another thing would be how to make project management leaner :-) Saving Changes...

Well Eduard .. you are right but we don't mean we want it simple as doing a routine conventional daily work.. as an example for what I meant .. let us take this question:
- How to make personal healthcare simple?
Answer: personal healthcare could be more simple by controlling diet, perform controlled physical work and live in peace of mind as possible. Saving Changes...

You are right Eduard on the point of lean.. it is true that the word "lean" should replace the word "simple" .. it is now on to think how to lean project management.. I just missed this in my previous reply.. Saving Changes...

Learn about it all your life, practice it, embrace it, fail and improve, teach it, love it.
Everything is simple then.
It might not be considered lean though. Saving Changes...
1. Know what you want from the project and when.
2. Know how to get it, what and who you need
3. Watch out for hidden dangers, keep things on track, and make course corrections where needed
What else would you add? Saving Changes...

you can't just follow the PMBOK. every organization has its own culture and has its own EEFs. In my opinion, the best way is to create the project team then agree with all on the methodology.

I disagree that you can't just follow the PMBOK. If you are trying to find your way through Project Management, what else is there to follow? I fully understand that following the PMBOK "by the book" is often not an option, however if you want simplicity that works, there are not many options that will keep project management simple.

it is good to have it logic and reasonable for everything.. when it comes to project management many factors could affect the extent of logic and reasonability .. the requirements, the scope, knowledge and experience of the project team, stakeholder expectations, applicable roles, standards and regulations, contracts terms and conditions, applicable law etc.

Are we debating using the PMBOK with non-PMPs?

No ... we are not debating using the PMBOK as basis for differentiation.. it is only that while we agree that the PMBOK covers almost all what we want to know on project management, when we do project management we always depend on the practicality that we find in front of us..
