What are the characteristics of the Strategic and Agile PMO?

The Strategic and Agile PMO enables the organization to select the right projects and execute them with a high sense of collaboration and common understanding of the benefits to the customer. How are you transforming your PMO to enable agility in the organization and accelerate business results?

Agile PMO does not exists. What exists is a PMO which is able to execute project using quit different approaches. Take into account that agile is not software or IT related only, is not a method or methodology, is not a process, is not the agile manifesto for software development. To understand what agile is take a look to USA DoD NSF/Agility Forum (1990, I was part) or Mr. Rick Dove´s work named "Response Ability" which contains most of that forum results. I am working right now in my seventh initiative in that field.

Sergio, thank you for your note and contribution of the articles. I will be presenting at the next PMI Virtual Conference "Organization Agility Conference 2016" register and join the conversation. I agreed with you on the transformation and evolution. I will share more on how to enable agility as a business mindset for any type of projects and how PMOs can evolve to support this concept based on real experiences in the industry. Big hug.

Well, my gratitude is with you and for any person that contributes to avoid confusion. It is a paradox for me. From one side, because I have the opportunity to work with agile from the very begining in theory (I was part of the group of authors of DSDM agile software development methodology where I worked with Arie Van Bennekum and I was part of the agility forum) and practice (I am leading my seventh initiative implementing agile) sometimes I think "great, it is my differentiator". But I do not think so. I spend lot of time explaining to people who hired me what agile really is. Mainly to deal with their expectations. I saw the virtual conference program. And if I understood well, please let me say that the conference is not about organizational agility, unfortunatelly.
