A Project Manager should be a continuous learner, dispite the different roles he/she has to carry on, having time for reading and learning about approaching technologies is a must.

Definitely. Each project presents new sets of learnings/challenges. The key is to take them in your stride, take the positives as learnings and move on. I would say its not just the PM role, each and every one of us should continually strive to learn in our day to day activities.

Things change so rapidly for project managers yet there is no excuse to be unaware of new trends. Being informed, knowledgeable and capable is crucial for what we do to assist organizations in creating the impact and profits they desire. If you are new to the industry as I am, continuous improvement is urgent or one could find themselves retired prematurely.
Creating a master plan for personal development especially as it relates to new technologies and new approaches to deliver customer satisfaction is no longer seen as augmenting but core to longevity.

Agreed. As every woman or man, a PM has to be a continuous learner to stay vivid and capable to compete. In our fast changing environments today it's even more important to continue learning.

Agreed. There are some many facets and techniques to managing projects. Continuous learning helps find the best way to manage a project and keep up to date with emerging ideas and aid in personal continuous improvement.
I enjoy taking on new projects, as Venkata said, new projects gives opportunity to learn, also though lessons learned.

Yes, very true. Even if you say 'No' the reality is that you keep on learning from anything and everything that you go through in your life.. One needs to make conscious effort to ensure that he/she makes most of the knowledge gained -- it may be in regular life and / or from the outcomes while you are managing projects.

Hello George,

I agree with you, but how much time PM should allocate for self-education?

Typically, workday completed with several open AIs. Not enough time for complete all planed tasks. How to allocate time for education in working schedule?

It's not question to you, it's just thinking...

You make time for your training. Who is planning your schedule, others?

Keep learning to be up-to-day and relevant in your environment. Learning surfaces some weaknesses that you may have and not be aware. To stay out of the comfort zone with your knowledge, skills or competencies

There is no end to learning. Any organization must have a continuous learning program for the project manager for their technical teams. Even if we successfully complete a project, it’s important to look back on it and reflect on what went well and what didn’t go so well. We should learn a lot during this reflective period, and allow these learnings to guide future actions on future projects.
