A Project Manager should be a continuous learner, dispite the different roles he/she has to carry on, having time for reading and learning about approaching technologies is a must.

Project managers must be a continuous learner as we have observed there are no two projects are the same. The constraint in every project are unique with time of implementation hence PM must continuously learn from lessons from expert, projects of others, industry white papers, journals as well as seminars continuously

The late Dr. W. Edwards Deming once said that there are two kinds of organizations: those that are getting better, and those that are dying. I think it's the same for good project managers. If you are not continuously learning, then you won't be able to keep up with the increasingly complex project demands. I tell all of my project managers that they should either be excellent, or striving to become excellent. Since nobody is perfect, that means continuous learning.

If unused, brain cells die first. And some previously acquired information goes with them.

Hello George,

I agree with you, but how much time PM should allocate for self-education?

Typically, workday completed with several open AIs. Not enough time for complete all planed tasks. How to allocate time for education in working schedule?

It's not question to you, it's just thinking...
You make time for your training. Who is planning your schedule, others?

To be a project manager, continuous learning is needed, the environment changes, techniques improve, the expectations of stakeholders change, so the project manager does not learn, he becomes outside

Steven Covey: "Sharpen the saw". Never so true as current times. You can't afford 2-3 years with the same professional practice. Wisdom does not change, but tactics do. And sometimes tactics lose complete efficiency or effectiveness in a matter of months.
