Why in the certifications that can be added to profile there are not VMWare, Veeam, NetApp, EMC, RedHat, Cisco, Linux certification listed?

I have a lot of technical certification earned before the PMP certification in my 17+ years of works. Why I cannot list them in my profile and just write it down in my description?

I did think it was weird when filling out my profile that with the Project Management related certifications they listed a few Microsoft certifications but no other technical certs.

I assume it is like this because Microsoft has certifications relating to Microsoft Project?

Great question

You can list any certification related in any way to project management.

Microsoft Certifications you can list -

MCITP (Microsoft)
MCTS (Microsoft)
Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) (Microsoft)
Microsoft Specialist (MS) (Microsoft)

Could you please explain me in what way the below certifications are related in any way to Project Management?

MCITP (Microsoft)
As a Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP) your certification proves that you have the comprehensive set of skills to perform a particular IT job role, such as database administrator or enterprise messaging administrator. MCITP certifications are based on older versions of Microsoft technologies, and will decline in value as companies move to newer versions of our products.

MCTS (Microsoft)
Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS) certifications distinguish IT professionals who are proficient in a specific Microsoft technology, such as Exchange Server, Windows or Visual Studio. Typical competencies possessed by Technology Specialists include configuring, implementing, troubleshooting and debugging a technology.

Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) (Microsoft)
Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) certification validates IT professional and developer technical expertise through rigorous, industry-proven, and industry-recognized exams. MCP exams cover a wide range of Microsoft products, technologies, and solutions.

Microsoft Specialist (MS) (Microsoft)
By passing a Microsoft Specialist exam, you validate your knowledge and skills in a specialized area of technology. Some Microsoft Specialist exams are included as requirements for Microsoft Partner Network competencies, which help distinguish your company from the rest in a particular technical discipline.

Only the last proposes one exam related to Microsoft Project

Exactly, just Microsoft certifications, 3% of projects done right now in the World!
How can a PM choose a Team using this tool to search for particular tecnologies, if he is in search of a team member that's really interested in Project Management? You must not be a certified PM to be part of projectmanagement.com but probably you are interested in PM processes and you are a good candidate for a project but I know that you are only certified in some Microsoft stuff, while I need someone that's VMware certified and RedHat RHCE: you will be excluded if I do not contact you directly or you do not write down your certifications in the description.

You are right!
SharePoint & MS Project is related to Project Management are relevant for 30% of the PM works on project (planning and M&C)
what about the execution phase? Not everything is Microsoft oriented: also Sharepoint and Project could not be part of the project if the PM rely on OPA and EEF in thee company he is working for.
Anyway thank you for the discussion. And I'm also interested in Community Engagement Specialists thoughts.
Kind regards

I think it would be best if one of the Community Engagement Specialists can provide some background on how the 'prefilled/select from' list of certifications was determined

There are thousands and thousands of certifications in the world and depending upon someone's career path they may have many different types. The goal of our list of certifications was to reflect project management certifications. Yes, many project managers come from a technical background, but while those certifications are great, theyare very numerous, always changing and growing and usually not directly related to project management. In addition to dozens - possibly hundreds - of potential technical certifications - people approach us about educational certifications, contracting certifications, human resource certifications, legal certifications and many more which would make the list excessively long. We appreciate the interest in sharing your background on ProjectManagement.com, we still intend on trying to focus on project management related certifications which can be added. Any additional certifications can be listed in the bio/introduction part of the profile.
