Will it be more practical and handy for the project manager to make for himself or for herself a KANBAN board, to organize progress from the time the project charter is singed off towards the end of the project or phase?

To start with a counter question: More practical than what? What are you comparing the Kanban approach with?

Generally speaking, it always depends on the people. If PM and team are fine with a lean approach and educated in using it wisely - why not. If your idea is to help the PM to better self-organize in the meaning of their own task management a Kanban board can surely do the trick. Just think about the stages, WIP limits, and the pull mode beforehand.

Methods and tools are just means to an end - focus on the people and the value you are trying to create.

You are right.. WIP limits that we are after.. to streamline work and to avoid overtasking, moreover, it helps us identify and manage our micro resources within the project team case wise.

It depends on what you want to accomplish and showcase to project stakeholders. Tools make not much difference.

Tools aids as means. You have variety of choices.
What difference it will make if Tool B serves the same purpose as Tool A?
